Understanding New Timelines From The Pandemic

The pandemic completely changed the way that most companies do business. Most importantly, the massive bottleneck and backorder of raw materials caused by the cease of work caused by the pandemic still has lingering effects in the current market. The construction and renovation industries were hit hard from the wood shortage and labor shortage of the pandemic, which in turn has led to longer timelines. If you would like to learn more about how you can update your space and get to know your expected timeline for your project, contact the elite team here at Hantel Kitchens & Baths. Our team will help you pick the best possible materials to ensure that your project gets done for a budget and timeline that you are comfortable with. Here are a few tips for understanding your expected timeline.

Our Process

As a company, we believe in outlining clear and direct expectations for every project. From full kitchen builds to smaller bathroom updates, we take the same steps for each project. All of our projects are completely customized, which means that we cannot build up a backlog of pre-built equipment or cabinetry. Our custom design process means that we do not start installing or doing any work until all of the materials have arrived for your specific build. Although this will require a bit more time on the front end, it also means that we will be as minimally invasive as possible when it comes time for installation. Other construction companies oftentimes start jobs without having all of the materials in place, which means if they don’t have an item, they will push off of the job until they receive it, leaving the customer without a kitchen or bathroom for a longer period of time. Our installation timelines are still very efficient as they always have been; the big disparity is when it comes to getting the right supplies shipped in.

Expected Timelines

Almost every solid material producer has seen massive slowdowns over the past few years, and most have added months, not weeks, to their expected delivery dates. This means that almost everything has become back-ordered, and new expected delivery dates have been set for custom pieces. Here are a few expected delivery times for our more common pieces:

  • Appliances:  4-8 months, especially refrigerators and custom hoods
  • Cabinetry:  4-6 months; even “stock” cabinets that used to take a few weeks are taking 3 months; completely custom cabinets can take even longer than 6 months
  • Lighting:  2-6 months
  • Windows:  2-4 months
  • Doors:  2-6 months

If you are thinking about updating your space, make sure that you plan for these expected delays beforehand so that you don’t get disappointed about your expectations. We will make sure that we give you the most accurate estimate on your timeline as possible, as things are continuing to change as suppliers find new ways to meet their deadlines.
